I do try to get out as much as possible to animal events, and the Central Jersey Cat Fanciers cat show was first on my list this year. The show dates were January 9-11, 2015 in Parsippany, New Jersey. They staged it at a new location, but the excitement and enthusiasm were just the same.

It’s looking like it will be a very Happy New Year indeed for one young cat in need of liver shunt surgery. We have a well-wisher who came forward yesterday on Junior’s Medical Fund site willing to donate $1,000 in matching funds for every dollar everyone else donates.  In other words, you donate $$ now, and she will match it!

Saving Junior – our cause this National Feral Cat Day

Posted by SusanStokes on October 16, 2014

On this National Feral Cat Day, let’s thank all those who take on the task of trap-neuter-return. It becomes a never ending cycle for those who choose this path to save homeless cats and help reduce the feral cat population. Sometimes rescued feral kittens are even deemed adoptable into homes, but this was not the case for Junior, a sickly kitten later diagnosed by UC Davis with a life-threatening Portosystemic Shunt, otherwise known as a liver shunt.

I just took a look at Alley Cat Alley’s list of registered events for National Feral Cat Day 2014, and the list is already quite long. The creativity behind the variety of events is amazing. There’s a lot of lucky ferals out there!

Veterans Day promotion from Three Dog Bakery

Posted by SusanStokes on September 17, 2014

Here’s a nice idea to celebrate Veterans Day and give back to a deserving veteran. According to their recent press release, Three Dog Bakery will donate to the nonprofit Food Industry Serving Heroes an amount equal to 15 percent of the total sales of its products, whether through its bakeries, its retail outlets or online, made on Veterans Day. The company will also contribute a year's supply of its dog food and treats to the recipients of its service dog initiative.
