Hug a Tree for Earth Day
Today is Earth Day – a time to celebrate nature and our world. It’s also a time to take stock of what we can do to preserve the world we live in. I decided to gather together some photos and videos of my backyard buddies to celebrate them, and also alert others about the #HugATree event promoted by the World Wildlife Fund to show support for our forests.
The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) had this to say in their recent newsletter:
“Threats to forests are growing. Expanding agriculture and illegal and unsustainable logging are responsible for most of the deforestation and degradation of the world's forests. The threats are so severe that we are losing forests at a rate equivalent to 48 football fields per minute.”
Below are a few of my favorite trees and flowers in bloom along with a few of my backyard buddies. Let’s appreciate our world and our wildlife and find ways to help sustain the environment. And give the #hugatree for Earth Day event a try!
Happy Earth Day!
