Meet the American Curl

Posted by SusanStokes on January 18, 2020

The annual Central Jersey Cat Fanciers Cat Show in New Jersey is a wonderful venue to meet and learn about different breeds of cats. It was here I met the American Curl.

The American Curl takes its name from his/her backward curling ears with long tufts of fur. This breed is actually the result of aspontaneous natural mutation which sometimes happens in the world of cats.

The first known American Curl made its appearance in the early 1980s. Cat breeders eventually took notice, and now the American Curl appears in cat shows as a viable breed competitor.

This breed loves to play and enjoys human companionship. So if you are looking for a fun lap cat, this breed is for you.  They are known to get along well in households with children, other cats and cat-friendly dogs.
