Happy National Feral Cat Day
It’s time to celebrate our feral cat friends...
October 16 has been designated as National Feral Cat Day. It was created over ten years ago by Alley Cat Allies, the national organization who acts as advocate on behalf of feral cats across the country in order to promote humane care for feral cats. A feral cat is one who is the offspring of lost or abandoned cats and is not accustomed to contact with people. Feral cats do not easily adapt or may never adapt to living as pets in close contact with people. However, there are many things that can be done to help improve the health and quality of their lives.
Alley Cat Allies endeavors to share information and educate others on the importance of Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) and the successful care for feral cat colonies. In honor of National Feral Cat Day, there are many special events taking place this week around the nation in support of the feral cat community. Happy National Feral Cat Day!
