Many pet owners overlook the importance of pet dental care either because they don’t know the facts or understand the warning signs of poor oral health. Without regular oral care, pets are at risk for gum infections, gingivitis, swollen gums, tooth infections, periodontics, and halitosis. To help insure optimal dental health, pet owners can learn what to look for in their pet’s mouth. They can be taught to clean their pet's teeth using pet toothpaste (not human toothpaste) and a pet toothbrush. Oral examinations should be a part of every veterinary exam, since veterinarians can detect and treat diseases early including mouth tumors, cysts, and gum diseases.

Pet shows are simply “my thing” and the Super Pet Expo is one of my favorites. I’m never disappointed with the variety of vendors and educational value of the entertainment the Super Pet Expo in Edison, New Jersey, provides. The event is scheduled for February 10-12, 2017, at the New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center. Following is a rundown of what you can expect as a visitor to the event.

People with neurological issues have a special type of disability that can manifest in many ways. They may struggle with balance, confusion, and disorientation. With an impressive thirty-year career behind him, Joel Silverman is one of the most popular and well-known dog trainers in America. He has published books on the subject, hosted “Good Dog U” on Animal Planet, and became host of a nationally syndicated TV series called “Dog & Cat Training with Joel Silverman.”

A rare influenza subtype outbreak has been identified in cats residing in a New York City animal shelter. The low pathogenic avian influenza H7N2 was identified by the Wisconsin Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
