Tips for Fighting Pet Obesity

New statistics have been released about the rise in pet obesity. According to Dr. Allison Wara in a press release, pet obesity is on the rise in North America with approximately 60% of cats and 56% of dogs being overweight or obese. This is a condition that goes largely overlooked by most pet owners. This tendency to underestimate a pet's body condition allows the disease to progress unseen, free to continue its deadly, life-shortening work. Dr. Wara is a veterinarian and a board certified clinical nutritionist with ROYAL CANIN® Canada.

They typically reside about a 15 minute walk away in another development near a pond where I have gone to observe them. Yet today, my neighbor found one lone and stumbling Canada goose near his vehicle parked along the main road running through our development and near my home.

The stories of animal abandonment never end. It was during a rainy day several years ago when an employee of Amwell Pet Supply in Hillsborough, New Jersey, noticed a pet carrier sitting by the dumpster at the nearby Burger King. The person  recalls, “Something compelled me to go over to the carrier. I fully expected it to be empty, but to my surprise and dismay, it contained two tiny, rain-soaked kittens.”  Then the story gets more interesting.
