What first comes to mind when you think of a frog? Perhaps it’s the green, bulgy-eyed amphibian with the croaking sound, or maybe it’s the lovable Muppet character, Kermit the Frog, who brought the amphibian to life. What might not come to mind is the frog’s ecological integrity with species that span the globe.

Pet Poison Helpline makes a big effort in keeping pet owners informed of pet toxins and how to avoid pet hazards. Every now and then a story stands out for being unusual, yet a situation that could happen in anyone’s home. The following story concerns a pet Cockatiel named Tequila.

February is traditionally the month we associate with Love, and for many that Love extends to our pets. Lorraine Zdeb, founder of Love Your Pet LLC, a premier pet sitting service based in Somerset County, New Jersey, hopes to inspire and motivate pet owners everywhere for a special February holiday meant to celebrate our pets, Love Your Pet Day on February 20^th.

Who needs a little extra bit of good luck? I came across an old superstition and decided to share it. It appears this superstition found in Britain and North America entails repeating the words "rabbit(s)" or "white rabbits" aloud upon waking on the first day of a month to ensure good luck for the entire month.

My visit to the local creek has become an almost daily experience not only for exercise by walking there and back, but also for a peek at the wildlife inhabitants there. I now know where to look for the Great Blue Heron, and I continue to learn more about this fabulous creature.

An amazing thing happened during my daily walk along the creek.  I came across a rather large gaggle of Canada Geese, not unlike many times before, except this time something was different.  In the midst of the normal looking Canada Geese was a misfit – a beautiful white goose happily eating and socializing amongst the gaggle, completely unaware of its singular beauty, just one of the gang.

Of the many things I love most about my daily walks along the creek are the sounds I hear from the wildlife. Occasionally, the bullfrog calls stand out, and I follow the sound with the hope to see one.

I must say, I’ve tried countless times unsuccessfully to capture a photo of a groundhog up close. It seems the moment they sense my presence, they run away faster than I can even get the camera in focus. Until one day, during an afternoon walk, one particular groundhog gave me a closer than usual opportunity to capture him on video.

A regular Covid-19 Pandemic pastime of mine has become walking along a particular creek not far from my home and observing whatever wildlife I run across at the time. Imagine my surprise to come upon a Great Blue Heron. I was actually observing other birds when suddenly this majestic creature came into view.
